What is "Powerful Tools for Caregivers"?
"Powerful Tools for Caregivers" is an educational series designed to provide the caregiver with the tools needed to care for yourself. This program will help family caregivers: reduce stress, improve self-confidence, better communicate your feelings, balance your life, increase self-confidence, better communicate your feelings, balance your life, increase ability to make tough decisions and locate helpful resources. Classes consist of six, 21/2 hour sessions held once a week. Two experiences class leaders will conduct these sessions. Interactive lessons, discussions and brainstorming will help you take the "tools" you choose and put them into action for your life.
What is Caregivers Assistance?
Our Information and Assistance Program provides assistance to the Family Caregiver that is caring for their elderly parents, spouse, friend, or other senior. We are able to provide help with completing applications for financial assistance, LIHEAP (energy assistance), Medicare Part D, Medicaid, Illinois Cares RX, transportation and other services.
Visit Our Caregivers Resource Center
Our Caregivers Resource center is stocked with video's, DVD's, and resource books for Caregivers, with topics ranging from "How to care for yourself while caring for others" to "The correct way to Transport your loved one". We offer these materials for check out or you may wish to enjoy this quiet room to watch a DVD or read. We also have a computer for your online resource needs. Stop by and gather up the free information on a variety of topics, all dealing with caregiving and senior health issues. The Resource room is open from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
