Caregivers Assistance & Training


Are you overextended caring for an older family member or friend? Caregiving takes many forms, from helping an older adult with matters such as transportation, housekeeping, grocery shopping, personal care, doctor appointments, to meeting emotional support, social activities, living arrangements, and financial concerns or legal and insurance issues. Caregiving can be physically, emotionally, and financially stressful.  Lifescape resources are here to help you learn to reduce stress and better care for yourself while caring for a loved one.

What services are provided through Caregiver Assistance & Training?

Caregiver Assistance and Training consists of 3 components which include the following:

  • Caregiver Wellness Class and Support Group
  • Caregiver Assistance
  • Caregiver Resource Center

What is the Caregiver Support Group?

The Caregiver Support Group meets twice a month to provide a forum for education, self-care, and emotional support.  The group uses a combination of guest speakers, social activities, and peer discussion to facilitate your growth and comfort as someone caring for an older adult in your life.

You are welcome to join our group. Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. The meeting locations alternate as follows:

2nd Thursday: meetings are held at Presence Cor Mariae, 3330 Marie Linden Dr., Rockford

4th Thursday: meetings are held at Lifescape Community Services, 705 Kilburn Ave., Rockford

What is Caregivers Assistance?

Our Information and Assistance Program provides assistance to the Family Caregiver that is caring for their elderly parents, spouse, friend, or other senior. We are able to provide help with completing applications for financial assistance, LIHEAP (energy assistance), Medicare Part D, Medicaid, Benefits Access Application, transportation and other services.

Visit Our Caregivers Resource Center

Our Caregivers Resource Center is stocked with video's, DVD's, and resource books for caregivers, with topics ranging from "How to Care for Yourself While Caring for Others" to "The Correct Way to Transport Your Loved One". We offer these materials for check out or you may wish to enjoy this quiet room to watch a DVD or read. We also have a computer for your online resource needs. Stop by and gather up the free information on a variety of topics, all dealing with caregiving and senior health issues. The Resource Room is open from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
